CLARE COMMUNITY GAMES

August Festival 2019

The August National Community Games Festival takes place in University of Limerick from 17th to 18th August. Please see information and useful links below to help you make the most of this wonderful sporting and community festival. See full list of team events hereChildren from the county are encouraged to support children from all areas in Clare.

Important Notes
  • There will be an opening ceremony at the Athletics Track on Saturday morning at 8.30am, all Counties are asked to attend.
  • There will be a disco on Saturday night in Kilmurry Hall for all participants at 8.30pm, County Tracksuit and ID badges must be worn.
  • All County Managers and Team Managers are to attend the briefing on Friday night, details will be sent out via text.
  • Clare will have a tent at the National Festival in UL for athletes. Keep an eye out for the Clare Flag.
  • Clare is No 31 in this year's finals.
  • Athletic competitions start at 9am.
  • Please advise your teams/groups/participants to choose a meeting point on campus in case children get separated from the group.
  • Participants should be on time and suitably prepared for their event.
  • Athletes must report for their heat. If there is not enough for heats then the event will be held as a final.
FIELD EVENTS
  • All participants MUST USE equipment provided by Community Games for all field events (EXCEPT LONG PUCK PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN HURL).
  • Participants will be given the opportunity to warm up using Community Games equipment at the beginning of their event.
  • No participants will be allowed to use their own equipment and therefore is not required to bring it with them.
TRACK U8's

Please make parents/guardians of U8 60m and 80m participants aware that they will run on both days. Those who do not qualify for the A finals will take part in the B event.

Pitch and putt
  • Registration for all Participants in the pitch and putt is at 9.15am Sunday in Murroe Pitch and Putt Club.
  • Shotgun start for the entries.
  • Presentations will be done on site
SKITTLES

One manager per team will be permitted to access the skittles area with a car to drop off necessary equipment, cars can then remain parked in this designated area. Only managers
with car passes as provided by National Community Games will be granted access to this area. Please see the general information for August festival

Volunteers
  • National are looking for youth to assist at the National Festival either Saturday or Sunday or both days. Please let County Secretary, Mary Loughnane, know as soon as possible if anyone is interested. This is a great opportunity for youth to see the Community Games from a different view point.
  • Information for Volunteers can be found online here.
National and Munster Fees
  • The 1st of August is the cut-off for National. Any child that has qualified and on the ORS as of midnight 1st August has to be paid for. If a child is competing in more than one event they only pay one Eur 25.
  • Please advise if team managers require an ID Badge as these have to be ordered. Managers ID badges cost Eur 25 each.
  • There is also payment long overdue for the Munster Finals. Please forward payment to Charleen Dillon, Pass Road, Meelick, Co. Clare.
