U16 Basketball 2019

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games U16 Basketball competitions for boys and girls took place on Sunday 31st March in Gurteen. It was coordinated by Jacinta McEvoy. The standard was very high. The winners now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster Finals in Tralee on Sat 20th April.

U16 GIrls Results

In the girls quarter finals Clarecastle/Ballyea beat Doora/Barefield 2 by 24 – 22. Doora/Barefield 1 beat Cooraclare/Cree by 36 – 12. In the semi finals Kilrush bear Quin/Clooney 22 – 16 while Doora/Barefield 1 beat Clarecastle/Ballyea 44 – 14.

In the finals Doora/Barefield girls were much too strong for the Kilrush team winning 34 – 17 and Quin Clooney won the bronze medals

Boys Results

In the boys competition five teams participated. In the preliminary Kilrush beat Feakle. In the semi finals Doora Barefield beat Clarecastle/Ballyea 32 – 16 and Cooraclare/Cree beat Kilrush 28 – 22 In the play off for Bronze medals Kilrush beat Clarecastle Ballyea 17 – 15.

The final was a very good match but the Doora Barefield boys proved much too strong for their opponents winning out on 33 – 11.
