U11/U13 Basketball 2015

The MUNSTERGROUP INSURANCE Clare Community U11 & U13 Basketball competitions were held on Sat 11th & Sun 12th April.

The U11 mixed basketball competition took place last Saturday in St Flannans College Ennis with six teams competing in the competition.There was great excitement among the young competitors and each team played their hearts out till the final whistle. We had a thrilling play off for 3rd & 4th place between Quin/Clooney & Cooraclare/Cree with Quin/Clooney winning 12-4  and a very close final between Clarecastle/Ballyea & Inch/Kilmaley/Connelly with Clarecastle/Ballyea winning in the closing minutes 6-4.

The results were as follows.
1st 
Clarecastle/Ballyea with team members Cian Kirby, Fiachra Kirby, Niall Carrig, Thomas McInerney, Conor Faulkner, Hannah Mai Neylon, Aisling Costelloe, Rebecca Carmody, Orla Hogan & Aoife O’Brien.

2nd  Inch/Kilmaley/Connelly with team members Cian Neylon, Colm Kileen, Jake Queally, Evan Courtney, Molly Hennessy, Jodi O’Sullivan, Emma Neylon, Caoimhe Cahill, Lauren Cahill & Caroline Griffin.

3rd  Quin/Clooney with team members Fionan O’Sullivan, Oisin Flynn, David Considine, Roisin O’Mullane, Emer Hynes, Holly Deegan, Hannah Clune & Remigiuse Glowski.

4th  Cooraclare/Cree with team members Mark Hehir, Kyle Grogan, Martin Finn, Jake Garry, Jack Carey, Sadbh O’Brien, Elise O’Leary, Orla Lillis, Leah Culligan & Aoife Martyn.

The Girls U13 basketball competition took place in St Flannans on Sunday morning with six teams competing. This was a very competitive competition with all teams giving of their best in hoping to make the final. We had a lot of exciting games especially both semi-finals. Clarecastle/Ballyea fought hard but were beaten by a very strong Cooraclare/Cree team. Quin/Clooney had to up their game to beat Doora/Barefield who had come back in the last quarter. In the final Quin/Clooney worked hard but were beaten by a very good Cooraclare/Cree team who now go on to represent the County in Munster finals in July.

The results were as follows.
1st  Cooraclare/Cree with team members Nicola Keating, Emily Culligan, Niamh Conlon, Niamh Burke, Katie Grogan, Saskia Morrissey, Sarah Fennell & Aoibheann Mullins.

2nd  Quin/Clooney with team members Cliodhna Ryan, Emma Considine ,Lara Begg, Rachel Rusk, Niamh Magee, Cora Deane, Lauren Wall, Molly O’Connell & Grainne O’Doherty.

3rd  Clarecastle/Ballyea with team members Emma O’Brien, Moya Sheehan, Anna Whelan, Lily McMahon, Molly McMahon, Beth Faulkner, Ella Doherty, Aoife McDonnell, Stella Quinlivan & Helena Enright.

4th  Doora/Barefield with team members Aine Barry, Anna Cosgrave, Riona Daly, Roisin Dillon, Laura Mescall, Saoirse Daly, Robyn O’Neill, Orina O’Shea, Grace Kennedy & Mary O’Callaghan.

The Boys U13 basketball competition took place on Sunday afternoon in St Flannans with four teams competing. Cooraclare/Cree proved too strong for Kilkishen/O’Callaghan Mills. In the other semi-final Quin/Clooney started strong against Doora/Barefield but Doora/ Barefield upped their game and beat Quin/Clooney to get into the final against Cooraclare/Cree. Cooraclare/Cree proved too strong for the Doora/Barefield team winning the game and now go on to represent the county in the Munster finals in July.

The results were as follows.
1st  Cooraclare/Cree with team members Eanna Corry, Gary Cunningham, Paul McNamara, Brian McNamara, Padraig Browne, Niall Keane, Gary Donnellan, Noel Gavin, Emils Zitare & Michael O’Connell.

2nd  Doora/Barefield with team members Luke Chambers, Jack Power, Cathal Dwyer, Mathew Ryan, Ben Higgins, Brian Griffey, Darragh McInerney & James McGrath.

3rd Quin/Clooney with team members John Conneally, Liam Flynn, Conal Egan, Cormac Egan, Callum Beirne & Oisin Flynn.

4th Kilkishen/O’Callaghan Mills with team members Cathal O’Hagan, Cian O’Connell, Oisin Cleary, Mikey Canny, Liam Boyce, Brian Hannon, Darragh Moroney, Mikey McMahon & Fionn Hickey.
