CLARE COMMUNITY GAMES

Chess 2015

The MUNSTERGROUP Insurance Clare Community Games Chess competitions for U-13 & U-16 were held on Sun 8th Mar in StFlannans College, Ennis. Only two teams participated in the U16 competition.  Shannon beat Cratloe the newcomers to this event.  In the U13 competition nine teams participated.The standard was high with some of the teams very evenly matched.

In the semi finals Shannon “A” beat Cratloe while Ennis St John’s “B” beat their “A” team.  Shannon “A” won the Gold from Ennis St John’s “B” while Ennis St John’s “A” took the Bronze from Cratloe.  This was Cratloes first time in the Chess competitions for many years .The co_ordinators were John Cassidy & Andrew Ingram. Shannon won the two finals and they now go on to represent Clare in the Munster finals in U.L. on July 4th.
