Munster Athletics Track Finals 2022
St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games were well represented at the Munster Regional Athletic Finals which were held in O’Sullivan Park, Lees Road on Saturday last 23rd July. The finals were run off very efficiently with several Clare volunteers officiating. It was attended by the President of Aldi Community Games Mr Gerry Mc Guinness and other r Community Games personnel from National and County. The President of Clare Community Games Mrs Cecilia O’Sullivan was also in attendance. The Munster Chairman Mr Anthony Fitzsimons who was mc and commentator for the finals paid a glowing tribute to Mr John O’Sullivan RIP who was a President of Clare Community Games for Many years and was one of its founding members, for his hard work and dedication over many years to persuade politicians of every party to secure the fabulous amenity which is John O’Sullivan Park which is now a fabulous venue for all sporting events. The Mayor of Ennis Mrs Claire Colleran Molloy also dropped in to greet everyone and present medals to the children. The standard of competition was extremely high with some very close finishes. I have no doubt but some of them will end up representing Ireland in international events. The first four in each event will now go on to represent Munster in the National Finals in Carlow on 13th August. Thirty athletes from Clare qualified for the National Finals.
