County Draughts 2010

The Golden Vale Fresh Milk Clare Community Games County Draughts finals took place in Tulla on 20 Feb 2010. The number of entries was down on previous years, but the competition was fierce! As usual, Tulla Community Games crew were fantastic hosts.

Art 2010

The Golden Vale Fresh Milk Clare Community Games County Art competition took place in CBS School, Ennis on 13 Feb 2010. As usual there was a large number of talented children from the County competing to win a place in the May National Finals in Athlone.

Badminton 2010

Congratulations to the Under 15 Badminton team from Broadford/Kilbane/Kilmore who secured Gold in the HSE Community Games National Finals at the weekend (28-30th May 2010). Full team: Damien Kiniry (Capt), Shane Taylor, Diarmuid Moloney, Stiofan Marsh McMahon, Shane Kiniry, Lorraine Kiniry, Aoife Dillon, Cliona O'Brien, Roisin O'Connell & Siobhan O'Connell.

Basketball 2010

Well done to the U-13 Boys Basketball team from Cooraclare/Cree, who secured Silver medals in the Munster Finals at UL in July 2010 (Shane McNamara, Barry O.Gorman, Killian Roche, Killian Burke, Jack Morrissey, Gerard McNamara, Donal O’Grady, Ronan Duggan, Kieran Griffin).

Camogie 2010

The Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games Camogie finals were held in brilliant sunshine at St Flannan's College on 22nd May. Many thanks to co-ordinator Mary Lenihan and the two referees, both members of the Clare senior panel: Aisling Hannon (Clooney) and Aine McNamara (Sixmilebridge). It was a closely fought contest and the girls from Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry came out winners and will go forward to represent Clare in the Munster finals in Limerick on 10th July.

Choir 2010

The Under 13 team from Kilrush and the Under 16 team from Killimer-Knockerra represented Clare in the Munster finals in UL in March 2010. Both teams went on to win the Munster competition and to compete at the first National weekend in Athlone in May.

County Chess 2010

Shannon once again dominated the Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games chess finals held in Ennis earlier in the year. Best of luck to them in the National finals in Athlone.

County Futsal 2010

The Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games Futsal competitions for Boys & Girls took place on Saturday 15th May in Corofin.  The competition was very well co-ordinated by Flan Brennan and his team.  The medals were presented by County Chairman Fiach McHugh.  There was some very exciting matches with Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry girls & the Ennis St John’s boys coming out with gold.  The winners in each now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster Finals in July.

Cycling 2010

Quin/Clooney once again excelled at the cycling event at the National Finals in Athlone in August 2010.  Lauren McConway secured a Gold medal in the U14 Cycling event and Jennifer O'Neill returned home with a Bronze medal in the U12 Cycling event. Quin/Clooney also hosted the County cycling event earlier in the year.

Hurling 2010

The Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games Hurling competition took place on Saturday 15th of May at St Flannans College Ennis in ideal weather conditions.  The Co-ordinator Adrian Hogan from Kilmurry Sixmilebridge did an excellent job. All matches were run off very efficiently and on time.  There were some very good & exciting matches.  The referees on the day were Brian McDonnell of Kilmaley, Kevin McNamara of Sixmilebridge & Noel McInerney of Newmarket-on-Fergus and they all did a great job.  In the quarter finals Newmarket-on-Fergus got a walkover from Derg.  Shannon were beaten by a much stronger Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry. Clarecastle/Ballyea beat Kilmaley while Doora/Barefield beat Ennis by 1 point in extra time.   In the semi-finals Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry beat Newmarket and Clarecastle/Ballyea beat Doora/Barefield.  The final was a very exciting and tough match with Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry coming out as winners 5-4 to 2-2.  Sixmilebridge went on to represent Clare in the Munster finals in July where they secured Silver medals.  The medals were presented by Clare hurler Colin Ryan.

National Art 2010

Well done to Noel O'Gorman from Kilmihil who came fourth overall in the Under 8 Art competition in the HSE Community Games National Finals in Athlone at the weekend (28-30th May).

National Athletics 2010

County Clare did exceptionally well in the National Athletics competitions in Athlone in August 2010, bringing home a good tally of Gold, Silver, Bronze and 4th Place medals.

National Chess 2010

Congratulations to the Under 12 Chess team from Shannon who secured Bronze medals at the National HSE Community Games Finals in Athlone at the weekend (28-30th May). The team won Gold at the Munster Finals in UL in March.

National Culture Corner 2010

Congratulations to the Under 15 Culture Corner team from Cratloe who secured Silver in the HSE Community Games National Finals in Athlone at the weekend (28-30th May 2010).

National Draughts 2010

Congratulations to the Tulla Under 12 Draughts team who secured Silver medals at the National HSE Community Games Finals in Athlone at the weekend (28-30th May).
