Hurling 2018

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games hurling competition for boys U11 was held on Bank Holiday Monday 4th June in glorious weather conditions in O'Callaghans Mills GAA Pitch. It was coordinaated by Pat Loughnane with his efficient team of referees and assistants. Nine teams participated for the honour of representing Clare in Munster.

In Preliminary round Doora/Barefield proved much too strong foor Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry (Blue) winning on a score of 4-6 to 1-3.

In the Quarter Finals Derg beat Inch/Kilmaley/Connolly 2-5 to 1-0. Cratloe and Doora/Barefield battled it out with Doora winning a place in the semi final 5-3 to 2-4. Quin/Clooney overcame Newmarket-on-Fergus 6-4 to 1-1while Ruan accounted for the Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry (Yellow) team 7-4 to 1-1.

In the semi finals Derg beat Doora/Barefield 4-4 to 2-5 and Quin/Clooney beat Ruan 7-3 to 1-3.

Doora/Barefield won the playoff for the Bronze medals 6-5 to 2-4.

In the final Quin/Clooney met a strong Derg team. It was a very close contest with Quin/Clooney pressing ahead to win 4 – 3 to 2 – 2. They now go forward to represent Clare in Munster in July in U.L.
