The Golden Vale Milk Clare Community Games Project competition took place in Sixmilebridge School on Wednesday 29th Feb. There was a good turnout with three U13 teams and seven U11 entries, all of exceptionally high standard. Many thanks to judges Siobhan O'Sullivan, Frank Monaghan, Danielle O'Brien and Declan Harem; to Mary McNamara who co-ordinated the event and to Sixmilebridge School for providing the venue. Well done to all who took part - a huge amount of work was put in by all those participating - and good luck to the winners who represent Clare in Athlone in May.
The MUNSTERGROUP Clare Community Games Project Competitions for U-11 & U-13 took place on Wed 27th Feb in Sixmilebridge National school. The Co ordinator was Mary McNamara, Judges were Mark Nestor, Aoife Nestor, Siobhan O’Sullivan & Aileen Whyms. The standard of competition was extremely high. The gold medal winners in each age group now go on to represent Clare in the National Finals in Athlone in May.
The munstergroup Insurance Clare Community Games Project competition took place in Sixmilebridge National School on Wednesday 26th Feb. Many thanks to Co-ordinator, Mary McNamara, assisted by Mary Lenihan; to Sixmilebridge School and especially to Judges from Limerick: Donna Fitzgerald, Emma Dillane, Caitlin & Shona Coultry. There were 10 x U11 projects and 8 x U13 projects, total of about 55 participants in all, and the standard was extremely high, both in terms of the displays and the enthusiasm and knowledge of the participants. So the judges had a difficult task on the night and complemented all the children on their hard work. The U13 "Role of the Internet" theme obviously inspired the entrants and the majority of the U11s opted for the "My County" theme, over the "Endangered Animals" one – inspired no doubt the Clare's success in the All Ireland. The Gold medal winners in each group go forward to represent Clare in the National Finals in August.

The judges were Louise Coughlan, Eimear O’Shea, Caitriona Behan & Aine Dwyan. The standard was extremely high which made the decision for the judges very difficult. The titles of the projects were – U-11 – When my Grandparents were young & Irelands most famous person. U-13 – History of Community Games & U-16 - The most influential fashion icon & How fashion has changed/repeated over time. The first in each age group now go forward to represent Clare in the National Finals in August in Athlone.
The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Mini Rugby competition was held on Sunday 19th March in Clarisford Park, Killaloe. It was co ordinated by the Killaloe committee. It was a very enjoyable & close competition. The medals were presented by Rosie Foley & Brendan Foley. Killaloe came out as the winners with Doora/Barefield in 2nd & Inch/Kilmaley/Connolly in 3rd place. Killaloe now go forward to represent Clare in the Munster finals in U.L. on Sunday 2nd April.
