Community Games Calendar of Events for 2022.

The next County Meeting takes place on Tuesday 6th Sept @ 8:30pm. This meeting will be in Treacy's West County Hotel and there will also be a Google Meet link circulated to areas in advance.

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games County Swimming finals took place in Ennis Pool on Friday 10th June.  Fourteen areas from across the county were represented and the winning area was Doora-Barefield.  Huge thanks to the co-ordinator/event director, Clare McGrath, and her team: Referees/Officials – Margret Purcell and Pamela McGrath;  Recorders – Alison Deane and Janette Hillery; Director of Timekeepers – Darina Greene;  Marshalling – Ruth and Elin Blake.  Thanks also to the Ennis Pool staff for their support and to all the area volunteers who assisted to make this a great event.

The Munstergroup Clare Community Games Swimming finals were held recently in Ennis and co-ordinated by Claire McGrath. The gold medal winners go forward to represent Clare in the national finals in Athlone at the end of May.

The county final of the swimming will be held on the 9th May. Ennis swimming pool have advised that the hire of the pool this year for areas has to be paid and the cost is €120 per hour. Areas are encouraged to share their hour with another area where possible in order to keep costs down. Please contact Caitriona McMahon, the swimming co-ordinator, for additional information.

Area swimming competitions as follows from 6-7pm (registration @ 5:30pm)

  • Monday 24th March – Doora/Barefield.
  • Tuesday 25th March – Ennis, Inch/Kilmaley/Connolly, Clarecastle.
  • Thursday 27th March – Quin/Clooney, Tulla, Ruan

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games County Swimming Finals took place on Friday 13th May in Ennis swimming pool.  Many thanks to Catriona McMahon for once again co-ordinating the event and to all those volunteers who assisted with timekeeping. Doora/Barefield were declared Best Over-all Swimming Area and were presented with the John & Nora Murphy Memorial Cup by Clare McGrath, Clare Water Safety Development Officer daughter of John & Nora Murphy. The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games County Swimming Finals took place Friday 12th April in Active Ennis Leisure Centre.

Many thanks to Catriona McMahon for once again co-ordinating the event; Referees/Turn Judge (Clare McGrath, Maggie Purcell, Patrick O’Grady); Recorders (Alison Deane, Jan Hillary, Rena McMahon, Monica Dilleen); Director of Timekeeping: Lianda D’Auria; Line Up: Rosemarie Perkins ; Youth Volunteers: Niamh Scanlon, Chloe Blessington, Chloe Whelan, Jane Hillary, Cora Deane, Leah McMahon, Eimear Kilroy and to all those volunteers who assisted with time keeping.

Ennis were declared Best Over-all Swimming Area and were presented with the John & Nora Murphy Memorial Cup by Cecilia O’Sullivan.
